Harvey Takes 1st at Maple Heights Maroon & White Duals, Goes 6–0

Harvey Wrestling traveled to Maple Heights this weekend to compete in the Maroon and White Duals, a tournament hosted in one of Ohio’s most respected wrestling communities. Maple Heights has long been a mecca of wrestling history, producing generations of tough competitors, and it’s always meaningful for our program to step onto those mats and test ourselves in that environment.

The event featured 12 teams competing in a full-day dual meet format. While the final scores show Harvey winning convincingly, no points came easy. Every match was hard-fought, with athletes across all teams battling from the opening whistle to the final seconds.

Harvey finished the day 6–0, earning first place with the following results:
Harvey 54 - Maple 28
Harvey 48 - VASJ 27
Harvey 60 - Rhodes 6
Harvey 54 Akron East 24
Harvey 54 - Horizon 24
Harvey 60 - Amherst Steele 17 to take 1st place

With the sweep, Harvey improves to 7–0 on the season.

From a coaching standpoint, it was encouraging to see veteran wrestlers continue to lead with consistency and composure. Just as exciting, however, was watching new heroes emerge in big moments. In the final dual against Amherst Steele, Kayden Rice delivered his first varsity victory, sealing the match with a pin at a critical moment to help secure the team championship.

Individually, Harvey received contributions up and down the lineup, with multiple wrestlers providing momentum-shifting performances and bonus points throughout the day. But beyond records or pins, what stood out most was the collective toughness of the entire field — both Harvey wrestlers and our opponents — with athletes across all teams competing with grit, pride, and determination from the first whistle to the last.
