Harvey Wrestlers Finish Second, Lead Tournament in Pins as Program Momentum Builds

The Harvey High School wrestling team delivered a statement performance at a highly competitive eight-team dual tournament, finishing second overall while leading the entire field with 21 pins — a clear reflection of an aggressive, finish-first mindset that defined the day.

Overall Finish: 2nd place

Several wrestlers powered Harvey’s run with standout individual performances. Rylin Davis went a perfect 5–0 on the day, recording four pins and consistently setting the tone for the lineup. Recardo Lewis, Marvin Guerra and Yariel Torres each finished 4–1, adding three pins apiece and delivering key momentum swings throughout the tournament.

While the championship dual came down to the final bouts, the bigger story was Harvey’s ability to dictate matches, generate bonus points, and compete toe-to-toe with established programs. The numbers back it up: 21 pins, four decisive team wins, and a title match decided by a single takedown.

That momentum extends well beyond the varsity lineup. Harvey’s JV boys wrestling team also made a strong statement, finishing second overall at the Cleveland Heights JV Tournament. Freshman Joseph Moree was named Tournament MVP at lightweight after going 4–0 on the day, dominating opponents and showcasing the next wave of Harvey wrestling talent.
