Harvey Wrestling Tested at CVC Championships

The Harvey High School wrestling program competed this weekend at the CVC Championships, one of the toughest tournaments of the season. With 24 schools represented and deep, experienced brackets at nearly every weight class, CVC consistently provides one of the strongest challenges on the schedule.
Both the boys and girls teams battled throughout the two-day tournament, earning key wins, advancing wrestlers into the placement rounds, and gaining valuable postseason experience. While the overall team results reflected the difficulty of the field, the tournament served as an important checkpoint as the season shifts into its most demanding phase.
This is the point in the year when things get real — matches tighten up, the margin for error shrinks, and every bout has meaning. Competing in an environment like CVC helps prepare wrestlers for the intensity of the upcoming OHSAA tournament series.

Notable Performances

A major highlight of the weekend came at heavyweight, where senior Marvin Guerra recorded the 100th win of his career, a milestone achievement that reflects years of dedication and perseverance. Guerra would go on to place 2nd at 285 pounds, continuing his strong senior campaign.
On the boys side, Harvey earned several podium finishes:

    Rylin Davis — 6th place (126)
The girls team delivered an outstanding showing, led by three CVC Champions:
    Nataly Nila — CVC Champion (1st) at 100
    Giselle Moreno — CVC Champion (1st) at 190 (2nd career CVC title)
    Sophia Turner — CVC Champion (1st) at 170 (2nd career CVC title)

The Raiders are in action this Wednesday at home vs. Lakeside and then travel to Parma to face Normandy on Thursday.
