Raider Wrestlers Reset, Respond, and Go 4–1 at Ben Vitron

The Painesville Harvey Red Raiders bounced back in a big way this weekend at the Ben Vitron Memorial Duals at Independence High School, turning in one of their strongest overall performances of the season.

Strong Team Effort All Day

Harvey opened with a tough dual against Hudson

(Hudson 50 - Harvey 25), before rolling through:

Harvey went 4–1 on the day, finishing 5th out of 16 teams — a statement showing after last week’s tough loss to Riverside. The energy was different. The focus was sharper. And the wrestling? Relentless.

Statement Win Over Ashland

The highlight of the tournament came against Ashland, a traditionally strong program. The Raiders really showed up in the last match of the day. The wresltling in this match was some of the best of the year for the Raiders.

Harvey 66 – Ashland 10

Add in a technical fall from Josue Gutierrez (120) and a gritty decision from Rylin Davis (126), and it was clear the Raiders were in full attack mode.

Ashland is a quality program. To dominate a team like that says something about where this group is trending.

Across the five duals, several Raiders were anchors in the lineup:

Marvin Guerra (285) – Dominant all day, multiple pins

Ricky Lewis (175) – Big bonus points in key matches

Yariel Torres (165/157) – Falls and technical falls

Brijon Poole (190) – Physical and consistent

Elijah Hall (215) – Huge energy swing matches

Nataly Nila (106) – Continued to set the tone at the lower weights

Aliyah Arebala (113) – Competed hard throughout

Momentum Shift

After taking it on the chin against Riverside earlier in the week, this was the kind of response you hope to see from a team with pride. No excuses. No finger pointing. Just work.

Four wins. Fifth place finish. Real progress.

The Raiders will close out the regular season this Thursday at Geneva before turning their full attention toward the postseason.

This is the time of year where things tighten up.
