Red Raider Wrestling Defeats Geneva to Conclude Regular Season

The Harvey Red Raiders wrapped up the regular season Thursday night with a 40–36 win on the road at Geneva.

The Red Raiders and Eagles traded forfeits at 106 and 113 — the ceremonial handshake of modern dual meets.
No blood. No sweat. Just paperwork.

Senior Josue Gutierrez wasn’t interested in paperwork.
At 120, Josue ended his regular season the right way with a tech fall. Deep shots. Clean finishes. Confident wrestling. He looked like a guy who understood this is the time of year where you stop waiting and start attacking. It was exactly what seniors are supposed to do.

After dropping 126 to Geneva’s 100-match winner (which is a lot of matches, by the way), the Raiders responded the old-fashioned way:
  • 132 – Demetrius Clark: PIN
  • 138 – Jayden Farren: PIN
Back-to-back falls. Huge momentum swing. The kind that makes the gym get real quiet on the home side.
  • At 144, Geneva returned the favor with a tech fall.
  • At 150, Anthony “Troy Bolton” Moree picked up another pin for the Red Raiders.
  • 157 went Geneva’s way by decision, but Ramirez fought hard to keep it to a decision — and that would prove critical later.
Geneva followed with a pin at 165 and a major decision at 175; Momentum: Geneva.
  • At 190, Geneva bumped their 190-pounder up to 215. A freshman battled for the Red Raiders but fell short.
That left the dual at Geneva 36 – Harvey 35; One match to go; Fortunately, Harvey still had one veteran in the chamber.

Guerra Closes the Door

Senior Marvin Guerra did what veterans do.
He stepped on the mat at heavyweight and handled business, tech-falling the Geneva big man and sealing the 40–36 victory.
Calm. Professional. No drama. Just how you want your heavyweight to operate.
Harvey closes the regular season with an impressive 23–4 dual meet record — not bad for a group that spends as much time solving lineup puzzles as they do wrestling.
